Hand-loomed on a pedal loom, each poncho is a work of art. Small imperfections are possible in handmade items, it makes each piece unique. Responsibly made in a fair trade environment by our partners in Ecuador - a small family team of talented artisans and entrepreneurs. We work closely (and in person) to ensure the craftsmanship is responsible and of the highest possible quality.
Because this poncho is made from 100% natural wool, it may have a noticeable scent when first unwrapped. That smell comes from lanolin, a natural oil found in sheep’s wool that helps protect the fibers (and the sheep!) from water and dirt. It’s a sign that the wool is authentic, untreated, and full of the natural character that makes artisan textiles so special.
That said, we totally understand that lanolin’s earthy scent can feel a bit strong at first — but don’t worry, it fades quickly. If you happen to be super sensitive to smells, please take caution.
